The Indianapolis Colts elevated the Waynesboro graduate and former Villanova star from their practice squad, and he'll make his NFL debut Monday night against the Steelers.
Rhyne, at 6-foot-1, 233 pounds, was a two-time all-state selection for the Indians, recording 21 tackles for loss as a senior. Then, at Villanova, he recorded 310 career tackles, 22.5 tackles for loss and 11.5 sacks, including 153 tackles and three sacks in his senior season.
Still, playing at the lower level of FCS, he didn’t garner enough attention to get drafted. But in May, the Colts signed him to a deal as an undrafted free agent, and Rhyne earned a spot on the practice squad after a solid preseason. Now, he’s set to make his first NFL appearance in a big spot, as the 4-6-1 Colts host Kenny Pickett and the Pittsburgh Steelers for Monday Night Football.Monday’s game will kickoff against Pittsburgh at 8:15 p.m., and will air on ESPN.
