Brisbane Heat star Grace Harris has smashed the highest score in WBBL history, with the opener belting a remarkable 136 not out off just 59 deliveries after she feasted on Perth’s bowlers on Sunday afternoon.
A day after the Stars posted the lowest ever WBBL total, Harris went ballistic from the outset to help the Heat reach a mammoth 7/229 from their 20 overs at North Sydney Oval.
After she missed out on playing in the recent series against the West Indies, the veteran opener unleashed every shot in the book, even clearing the rope at one stage despite her bat snapping in half.Harris also broke the record for most sixes in a WBBL innings, with her ninth maximum taking her past the previous highest score of 114 which was held by Ash Gardner and Smriti Mandhana.
The Heat were actually in a bit of trouble early on as Chloe Ainsworth picked up two wickets in as many deliveries to have them 2-25, but that didn’t slow down Harris who reached her 50 off 24 balls as she brought up 2000 runs for the Heat. Sydney’s sweltering heat was only bettered by Harris’ blazing bat which snapped in half after she hit Piepa Cleary back over her head for six having told her teammates seconds earlier that she needed a new bat.
