Professor McFarlane has been appointed as an expert consultant by Mental Health Minister Bronnie Taylor, who said his experience would be invaluable as the state recovers.last month, Professor McFarlane said the horror of facing a bushfire and then losing everything was often greater than other natural disasters, such as a flood, and the mental health impacts often emerged years later.
"I don't want to see tragedy follow tragedy," Mr Constance said. "I want anyone affected in any way, shape or form to seek our support, either through their own community group or privately through one of our amazing networks. 'Major stoush' between NSW and Federal govt over bushfire recovery | Sky News AustraliaPolitical Editor Andrew Clennell says Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s Royal Commission announcement last week “raised again the issues of tension between the Federal and NSW governments”. \n\nThe announcement outlined future circumstances where the federal government “might intervene” in areas that are usually “state responsibility”, such as hazard reduction and allowing defence forces in “without state permission”. \n \nMr Clennell told Sky News there was a “major stoush” and “at one stage things had deteriorated so much that Premier Gladys Berejiklian was refusing the prime minister’s calls when they were looking to work out the bushfire cleanup arrangements”.\n\nHe said Mr Morrison reportedly “initially questioned the funding of the $800 million to one billion clean up on a 50\u002F50 basis because of the cost and believed the scope of the proposal was outside the Black Saturday arrangements employed in Victoria in 2009”. \n\n“NSW sources do question why the prime minister was questioning this issue given some of his comments in January about doing anything it takes to fund recovery from the crisis” he said. \n\n“The Premier's office has not denied this business with not taking the prime ministers calls or the dispute over funding' but “Mr Morrison denies quibbling over the fund or any problem with his relationship with the premier.”\n\nImage: Getty
