🔎 'We are all desperately deleting our chat history': How China is trying to suppress protests
that have been taking place across the country for several days, and the authorities are searching out protest organisers, according to demonstrators.
Social media footage showed police arresting a protester and occupying public spaces to prevent gatherings in the city of Huangzhou. Residents of Beijing said police were checking people’s phones to see if there were virtual private networks or the Telegram messenger app, both of which have been used for protest organising and are largely prohibited in China.
