To put it simply, the prison system is exploiting weak and vulnerable families, including many of our friends, neighbors, and colleagues.
Let’s face it, folks, you never know when you or yours may be accused of something they didn’t do. You could find yourself in this prison system waiting to prove your innocence. Is this what you would want your family to endure?
In fact, you could go in young and healthy and die suddenly, of what the Dauphin County Coroner would label “natural causes.” We have repeatedly called the community and responsible officials to examine their collective conscience on the appalling conditions in the Dauphin County Prison. We have implored the state to step in to investigate. And we will not stop doing so.
