Lloyd Perrett claims he has never been the same person since a training incident in 2017. But that’s not the reason he intends to sue the Manly Sea Eagles.
Lloyd Perrett remembers hearing the reports from the Keith Titmuss coronial inquest and breaking down in tears.
There were the obligatory weigh-ins and wellness monitoring before the players were told to head to the oval at Narrabeen’s Sydney Academy of Sport and Recreation. Perrett didn’t know why he was there. The medical staff asked him the obligatory questions: Did he know his name? Did he know why he was there?
Perrett was told his situation was serious. “I was comatose,” he says. “Six out of 10 people die in this situation, that’s what the nurse told me when I was in hospital.” Perrett would later seek the opinion of an independent doctor, who put him through a battery of tests while he walked on a treadmill.
“The height that I’ve fallen from, I feel embarrassed about that type of thing as well. Obviously, my body, I gained so much weight. I was probably about 118kg-121kg that year and I was really comfortable and happy with that weight.
