The Productivity Commission calls for a fundamental change in the way governments fund services for children and families in the NT, with gaps, overlaps and duplications identified in the $538 million system.
The Productivity Commission commended the many dedicated people working to improve the lives of children in the Territory.
In one example, the commission noted the federal and Territory governments each funded their own intensive family support programs. The report also found short-term grants — often less than two years in length — forced service providers to spend valuable time on funding applications rather than service delivery.
