Queensland's top doctor warns infections will significantly increase in the state in the coming weeks and expects Omicron to be the most dominant strain by early next year.

Queensland Police said they were"extraordinary pleased" with the high level of compliance of customers and businesses while unvaccinated people are locked out of the economy. "Please be patient, be kind, businesses are abiding by the law. I ask patrons to also abide by the law … it has been an incredibly pleasing result in the last 24 hours."
