The two cousins were found dead on the side of a road near Bourke, central New South Wales, nine hours' drive northwest of Sydney.Mona and Sindy were found deceased next to an unharmed white man on the side of a NSW road in 1987. Grant was charged with drink driving resulting in Mona and Cindy's deaths but was later acquitted by an all white jury.
Sister Kerrie Smith said decades ago, police failed their family, adding had the perpetrator been Indigenous, the outcome of the case would be very different."We need to find out what really happened to give us some peace, but the police failed us all the way," Smith said."If a blackfella did that to two white girls, they would have gone to jail.
