Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has offered NSW any support or personnel the state needs to deal with its worsening second wave as he warned Victorians “to be quick about” getting home | AbbirDib
“Some things can be done well, from a long way away. Some things are much better to be on the ground and have that local knowledge. But we have made those offers, and we stand ready to support our NSW friends any way that we possibly can. If there’s a problem in Sydney, there’s a problem everywhere.Mr Andrews also said he wouldn’t hesitate to close the border completely to NSW but was awaiting advice from a Sunday afternoon meeting of the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee .
“We’ve been giving some consideration all day, and most of yesterday to whether all of NSW will go red and I won’t hesitate to do it,” he said. “I’m not here to grade NSW. I’m here only to inform you that we will not hesitate to act as a state.” He also urged Victorians in NSW to return home as soon as possible. “Don’t delay, come back today. If you coming home, then you better be quick about it.”On Sunday, Victoria recorded no new cases of coronavirus in the community, or in hotel quarantine. There are currently 20 active cases across the state.
More than 23,000 people were tested on Saturday and almost 13,000 rolled up their sleeves for a COVID-19 jab.
