As assistants at Richmond, Adam Kingsley and Craig McRae helped mastermind the Giants’ defeat in the 2019 grand final. On Friday, Kingsley will attempt to topple McRae’s Collingwood to steer GWS into this year’s decider.

It is Craig McRae’s birthday on Friday, and Adam Kingsley has a message for him.

Kingsley was asked 24 questions at his stand-up press conference and none did he answer as swiftly as the query about whether he had spoken with McRae this week. “No,” he said instantly. They will have to be against Collingwood, in front of one of the most one-sided crowds to date this season. But the Giants are good on the road – they have won at 11 different venues this year – and the collective messaging has been along the lines of, “MCG, so what?”
