Sims said his sister had been vindicated after her husband had told her family she had abandoned her children."The court has found what we believed to be true for so many years," Simms said.Simms said he was crying when Chris Dawson was found guilty."She would have contacted her mother first." He thanked the media for drawing attention to the case, especially Hedley Thomas, whose podcast Teacher's Pet cast a spotlight on the cold case."I am sure it made a massive difference in this whole case," Simms said.

"And to the media in general, we have been very fortunate that the media has been very supportive to keep Lynette's name out there for all of these years.""They have been so staunch and treated me like a member of the family," he said.He thanked the prosecutors and detectives from the unsolved homicide squad for their work.

"Lynette Dawson was missing for eight years and just treated as a runaway mother for that time when the circumstances were so gravely suspicious," Thomas said.Chris Dawson was immediately taken into custody after being found guilty of murder this afternoon.
