Millions of people walk through Central Station each year, but they may not know the wonderful story behind the stunning glass ceiling above and the rail network below.
The above ground platforms are an extension of the older building, which was first opened in 1879 with just eight platforms. Flavia was quick to point out the stunning glass roof, which is made up of 48,000 panes of glass, making it one of the largest in Europe. During it's 144 years the station has witnessed the horrors of war first hand. Glaswegians would race to the station each day during the first and second World War as the wounded and fallen arrived by train.
The museum details how the railway network has changed overtime with the introduction of new technology. Old furniture from the Caledonia Sleeper was also set up to resemble a carriage for the early 1900s. Flavia explained that although the line, which linked to the infamous Botanic Gardens Station, was vital it was a haven for crime.
