Deputy Premier John Barilaro has given his strongest indication that the NSW Nationals could split from the Coalition over koala planning policy, with two of his ministers prepared to quit cabinet over the issue.
The damaging division in the Coalition relates to a policy designed to protect koala habitat, but the Nationals say it would severely limit the way property owners could manage their land.can reveal that the policy became law on December 18 after being signed by the Governor on the advice of the executive council, which was made up of two National ministers: Mrs Taylor, representing Mr Barilaro who was in London, and Kevin Anderson.
Mr Barilaro, who says his MPs are demanding four major changes to the guidelines attached to the planning policy, described Thursday's meeting as "crunch day".
