Regina and Volod's once-thriving garden centre business in Ukraine now lies in ruins, but they and their daughters have found refuge in a tiny town in rural Western Australia.
When Russian-born Regina Razumovskaya moved to Ukraine in 2014 to marry a successful businessman, she never imagined she'd become a refugee."My husband is the owner of … the biggest nurseries in Ukraine. Well he was, because all his nurseries are completely destroyed, they're all near Donetsk."Now I cannot classify who we are because all our properties either in Ukraine or in Russia, it's nothing, it's almost nothing now.
"Our friends messaged us once the war started. They live near Nannup on a farm and they told us to get in a plane and come to Australia," Ms Razumovskaya said. The Home Affairs Department said that as of June 27, more than 3,200 Ukrainians had arrived in Australia since the war started.Subclass 786 visas are valid for three years and allow people to work, as well as study and access Medicare.
