Warmer weather, less frequent public health alerts and fewer people getting sick could all be contributing to the low levels of COVID-19 testing in NSW | rachelclun

Warmer weather, less frequent public health alerts and fewer people getting sick could all be contributing to the low levels of COVID-19 testing in NSW.

NSW Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant said it was critical to drive the cases of community transmission "to the lowest possible level" before people became more active across the state once school holidays begin on September 28. Dr Chant said one potential reason for the drop in testing numbers was that less people may be getting sick.

Other people may feel the process is too much for them, or have outdated perceptions of long testing queues and waiting times for results, based on previous experiences. Two of the new cases confirmed on Monday were linked to the Concord and Liverpool hospitals cluster: one was a close contact of a case linked to Concord Hospital, while the other was a healthcare worker from Liverpool Hospital.
