The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory for a large portion of San Francisco Bay Area on Tuesday morning.
Bay Area on Tuesday morning as an atmospheric river brought more rain to an already soaked region. Minor flooding on highways, streets and underpasses is possible and forecasters warned that motorists should not drive through standing water. The advisory is in effect through 9 a.m.
In the last atmospheric river event, the weather service issued a more-severe flood watch. This latest storm is expected to send the main moisture plume to Southern California and it isn't expected to bring as much rain as the previous one. But even if the rain isn't as heavy with this event, it could cause some problems as the soils are saturated after an unusually wet winter.
