Novo Nordisk’s Wegovy is about to go on sale here, avoiding the prospect of a supply disaster when compounded Ozempic is banned.

“Our goal is to launch Wegovy ... in August,” a Novo Nordisk spokeswoman said on Thursday. “Novo Nordisk Australia is in constant communication with our global manufacturing and supply chain to make Wegovy … available for Australian patients living with overweight or obesity.” Mark Fitzgibbon, the chief executive of health insurer NIB, which owns telehealth company Midnight Health, said on Thursday he understood a launch was imminent.
