Director of Tax Communications at H&R Block Australia Mark Chapman revealed he'd seen attempts to claim dog food, European holidays and even edible undies in tax return lodgments."Dog food is potentially claimable if the dog itself is declarable," he explained to 9news.com.au. "If you're working on a farm, or in security, you can therefore claim deductions for the dog or other expenses such as vet bills, food etc.Chapman said he also observed a tradie attempt to claim a tax refund on his European holiday, a deduction his firm had to decline. "Basically all he had to show for it was a few photos, obviously he brushed up on his French, but his craftsman skills were notably absent so we didn't allow the deduction.
Chapman said edible undies had even showed up on a tax return, and while they weren't tax deductible, sex toys were in certain circumstances."But if you're in the adult industry you can claim them on the basis that they're basically a tool of the trade.
