An aircraft transporting Malawi’s Vice President Saulos Chilima and nine other people has dropped off the radar and gone missing.
A military plane carrying a senior politician from Malawi and nine others has reportedly dropped off the radar and gone missing, sparking a major search operation.
“All efforts by aviation authorities to make contact with the aircraft since it went off the radar have failed thus far,” a statement from the office of Malawian President Lazarus Chakwera’s office said. The head of the defence force has been informed and the president has cancelled a planned trip to the Bahamas in the wake of the news.
“The public will be updated of any developments on the situation as facts are established,” the statement added.
