Health, wealth and happiness — these were the first goals that came to mind for many West Australia ns heading into the New Year . There was a wide array of ways people chose to welcome the new year , from midnight beach parties to 5am jogs and matcha lattes. The ABC spoke to people relaxing by Scarborough Beach about their hopes and dreams for 2025. Several people were journalling, sprawled out on the grass, and others chatted about life goals with loved ones.
'probably learn to be happy within myself and just be my own self and be happy being alone,' he said. German tourist Paul Glëser said a 'west-coast lifestyle' has encouraged him to be more outgoing — a skill he wants to take with him into 2025. 'Be nice, be polite, and then you'll have a great chat that might lead into friendship.' Karoyln Zinetti is excited for the year ahead, calling it a 'blank canvas' to create whatever she likes. Others spoke about fitness goals, with one woman setting her sights on conquering a marathon, while a visiting UK couple were making the most of bike rides along Perth's coastal shores. Adam Marshall and Emma Gallagher are hoping to crack into the property market and find their forever home. ABC News: Ruby Littler 'We're just saving, putting our plans together to maybe get a house in the next year or two, and then travel in 2026,' Mr Marshall said. 'It's going to be challenging, but looking forward to it.' Locals and tourists alike praised the WA lifestyle, 'practising gratitude' for their life and surroundings. Tourists Paul Glëser and Rebecca Hahn felt Perth was fine just the way it was. 'So it's like, it's a tough question, is there anything that needs to change? It's really great.' But it wasn't only personal reflections and goals on the minds of West Australians. Real estate agent Erit David said the cost of renting and owning a home felt beyond many people. 'I see it, feel that. I breathe it every single day. And our government is failing us,' he said
