Brandon Morrissette, 18, was also accused Tuesday of inducing panic and illegal possession of a deadly weapon in a school safety zone, according to Chardon Municipal Court records.
West Geauga High School was placed on lockdown at about 9:30 a.m. Monday after a student told administrators that Morrissette had a gun, Superintendent Richard Markwardt said.
Markwardt said administrators immediately contacted law enforcement, who “isolated the student found to possess the concealed firearm and interviewed others who might have had some knowledge of the matter.” Police from Chester and Russell townships, as well as Geauga County sheriff’s deputies, conducted a security sweep of the building. A police dog also searched the school, which was found to be safe.
