Wolf Pack scores three touchdowns on ground in Grossmont Conference victory
The West Hills Wolf Pack came within 40 seconds of posting a road shutout against the Grossmont Fooothillers in the season opener on Friday night.
It didn’t start smoothly for West Hills, who fumbled the ball and turned it over to the hosts on the first play from scrimmage.Wolf Pack quarterback and birthday boy Collin Dill, running back Diego Calderon, and junior Nathan Stevens had rushing touchdowns. Tyler Haley booted a 30-yard field goal. On Grossmont’s second possession, last year’s Grossmont Valley League Defensive Player of the Year Braden Wilson recorded a sack with the Hillers in the red zone. He later blocked a Grossmont field goal attempt late in the first quarter.
Calderon scored his touchdown on the Wolf Pack’s first possession of the third quarter on a short touchdown burst with 5:50 to play in the third, capping a 52-yard drive.
