West Houston chase ends in crash after HPD uses maneuver in effort to stop vehicle
The chase happened as police were investigating a report of a stolen vehicle that was reportedly found at an apartment complex on Houston's west side, police said at a news conference following the crash. While at the complex, police said they found another stolen vehicle and witnessed the man get in the car and drive away.
Investigators called patrol units to pull the man over, but he didn't stop and a chase began, police said. The man allegedly drove the wrong way on some streets and jumped a curb, popping two of his tires, police said. After that, police used the maneuver. No one else was injured after the chase. The police department's Internal Investigations Unit is conducting an investigation into the incident, officials said.
