The SSPCA are investigating after reports a member of the public attacked the animal

West Lothian animal lovers are devastated after a much-loved swan died after being attacked by a heartless thug.

Elayne Young, a constant visitor to the local park where the swan was found dead, says that the entire community is heartbroken by such a cruel act and that they are looking to introduce community patrols. “We are also investigating whether CCTV can be used as a deterrent, because there is potential to provide evidence if any incidents like this happen again.

“The swans and the cygnets are a joy to many and the community have watched their progress over time, sharing stories and photos and now there is a sense of loss and indeed anger at this incident.
