A spokesperson for No 10 said the demands were "completely out of step with pay settlements in other parts of the public sector" and would cost about £2bn.Junior doctors strikes: Live coverage Dr Shivam Sharma, who works in Birmingham, said it was crucial to retain doctors, many of whom were feeling burnt-out and under-valued.

Faculty members voted overwhelmingly in favor of authorizing a strike last month. Union leaders say they’re demanding salary increases, better job security for adjunct faculty and guaranteed funding for graduate students.
