WA Chamber of Commerce and Industry CEO CCI_CEO says the state’s reopening date is “absolutely critical” for businesses.
WA Chamber of Commerce and Industry CEO Christopher Rodwell says the state’s reopening date is “absolutely critical” for businesses.
“That date is absolutely critical because it sends a signal to businesses around when they can go back over east, talk to their customers, how those supply chain issues and challenges that are impacting them might be resolved or somewhat alleviated,” Mr Rodwell told Sky News Australia. “But it also sends a signal, for instance, to international students that they can book flights to come here, to study at our universities.”
“We have four of the best universities in the world that are really looking for those international students to come back.” Mr Rodwell said WA needs to reopen because of its current “reliance” on the mining sector for income and the “significant challenges” of supply chain issues, skills shortages, and the unemployment rate within the state due to the border closure.
