Western Australia's Cockburn cluster has grown again with two new locally acquired cases recorded on Tuesday, while event organisers announced the Mandurah Crabfest has been cancelled for the third straight year due to the pandemic.
“We expect there are more cases in the community and we need to track them down,” Premier Mark McGowan said on Monday.WA Health has also urged residents in the Perth and Peel regions to come forward immediately if they experience any symptoms.
Councillors at the City of Mandurah, which organises the event, decided businesses would end up wasting money if a decision was not made in advance. Mandurah Mayor Rhys Williams said it was a “common sense decision” which was made after a “thorough strategic assessment” of the circumstances.
