The Western Force have accepted an invitation to play in Rugby’s Australia’s new domestic competition but insist they are only sticking around for this year
.
The Force were approached to join a similar competition in March that RA was putting together before the impacts of COVID-19 were fully felt and sporting competitions around the world were halted.Force owner and billionaire Andrew Forrest, whose new Global Rapid Rugby competition has been paused for the time being, said he had agreed to support RA “in a time of crisis, for the good of the sport”.
Forrest, however, made it clear this was a short-term agreement and that the Force would not commit to anything long-term just yet.
