SALT LAKE CITY — When the NBA’s Western Conference All-Stars gathered for a mock practice Saturday morning, Clippers forward Paul George had some good news...
, Doncic is primed for the most anticipated playoff run of his career, and fellow All-Stars have taken note.: Doncic and Irving may require time and patience to connect on the court over the coming weeks, but their offensive potential should be captivating.
Boston Celtics All-Stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown learned about Irving’s move out of the Eastern Conference while on the team’s flight to Detroit. “Those are two of the toughest one-on-one covers in the league, and those two together present something very, very, interesting,” Haliburton said. “It will be tough for people to figure it out. What’s underrated about those two is they both play off the ball. Kyrie has done it before. Luka hasn’t had to do it yet, but he’s one of the highest-IQ guys in the league, so he’ll figure it out.”
In two weeks with them as teammates, the Mavericks are 0-2. They lost by five to the Sacramento Kings in overtime Feb. 10 on the second night of a back to back, and then by three to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Feb. 13 in their first home game after five away. Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards added: “When the news first broke, I was excited for [Kyrie] to come to the West so we can play against each other. … Adding Kyrie helps [Luka] a lot because teams can’t double him now. But he’s playing great, man. He had like 60-point games, 50-point games, yeah, he’s playing out his mind right now. MVP talk, for sure.
