Peter Dutton is “disingenuous” in his visit to Alice Springs as the Opposition leader has had “nine years” as a cabinet minister to “bang the drum” about issues in Indigenous communities, says Cape York Partnership’s Strategic Advisor Noel Pearson.
Mr Pearson’s comments come as Mr Dutton continues his campaign for a no vote in the Indigenous Voice to Parliament referendum.
“I’d say to Peter – what did you do the last nine years you were a cabinet minister?” Mr Pearson told Sky News Australia. “Why wasn’t he banging the drum in those nine years and why haven’t we fixed up Alice Springs in those nine years? “It’s just a bit disingenuous for him to go out there with Jacinta and bang the drum on Alice Springs when he had those nine years.”
