Nate Fitch's Friendship With Johnny Manziel Explained Nathan Fitch met Johnny Manziel as a middle schooler in Kerrville, Texas. The two formed a fast friendship thanks to their similar interests, and Fitch followed Manziel to Texas A&M University once the latter was recruited to play quarterback. Manziel's talent on the field earned him the Heisman Trophy as a freshman , and turned him from a college athlete into a huge sensation.
Due to regulations from the NCAA prohibiting student athletes from profiting off their own brand, Manziel was unable to make any money off of his newfound fame.
