Until the defense comes around, the Clippers won’t look like the championship team they aspire to become.
Clippers center Ivica Zubac didn’t hesitate when asked what led to the Clippers’ five-game losing streak that was halted in“Last couple games we’re doing pretty good offensively, but we just can’t get any stops,” Zubac said. “I think getting back to the team that we were in the beginning of the year when I think we were one of the top three defensive teams in the league — I think that’s who we can be, who we should be if we want to be in a position to win a championship.
“Obviously we have all the pieces,” Zubac said. “We have to put it all together. We better, because right now we are not showing that we are a team who can win a championship. Right now, we’re in a play-in spot so there’s obviously a lot of stuff we have to do to improve and be better at.” Coach Tyronn Lue has talked ad nauseum about the need to improve defensively. So, instead of just talking about it, he was going to do something about it.
