Shock jock Kyle Sandilands has called for security guards located at shopping centres and schools to be armed, amid a tragic week in which three major stabbings took place in New South Wales.

Radio host Kyle Sandilands has made a strong call for security guards to be better equipped amid a spate of stabbings in Sydney .

NSW Premier Chris Minns announced the state government would fund an $18 million inquiry into the Bondi Junction stabbing incident in which six people were killed. He ruled out policy changes over whether security guards could carry firearms. And I was like, ‘well, what has to happen before a security guard can actually secure the place for us?’” The Kyle and Jackie O show co-host asked on KIISFM.

Security guards are mostly unarmed in NSW, however they can apply to carry batons and handcuffs as long as they provide “genuine reason” for them. “Particularly in hospitals, the madness of a weekend, drug-affected people wanting to attack doctors and nurses.
