A Queensland mother recalls the moment she realised her house was on fire on Christmas Eve.
Ms Trevenar said she then received a phone call from one of her neighbours asking if their power had also gone out.
"She said well our power is off so we thought we had better come home quickly, so we did and then the garage door wouldn't open. "We couldn't figure out what was going on so we got out of the car and all we could smell was smoke.""We came into the house, the kids sat at the kitchen bench looking at their Christmas present from Santa, and we could hear a noise.
"It sounded like water running but it was actually a fire we didn't know about and the wall behind me was quite hot."There was multiple seeds of fire down through the walls, we had difficulty gaining access to it," Beenleigh Fire Station officer Des Adams said. "The fire was [eventually] stopped inside the wall cavities and inside the roof. We were able to stop it spreading from the rest of the house."
