I guess there are two sorts of people in this world. Those who enjoy going to Officeworks and buying a new label maker and 10 brightly coloured highlighter pens, and then returning home to print a label for each highlighter corresponding to one of 10 household budgeting categories they have determined for themselves. And those who do not.I definitely fall into the former category. And while it’s not for everyone, it really is a great way to get on top of your personal finances.

Now, I turn 40 next year. So that leaves me 30 years to earn enough money to cover 60 years of living expenses .So, I’ve started a new spreadsheet. In the first column, it lists the number of years left until I die. I intend to add columns for anticipated income and expenses for each year and reconcile the two over a lifetime. Again: that sort of person.

After an initial $185 consult fee, I was then charged another $352, after Medicare rebate, for the pleasure of having it cut out. Ouch. In more ways than one.
