Unfortunately, we’re used to not getting straight answers – or sometimes any answers, for that matter – from City Hall on questions about crime.
What’s going on in Journal Square? And what is anyone doing about it?
Yet, officials have been mostly silent on such questions after it became known that there had been several separate attacks on individuals in the Square area over the last seven months. Neighborhood associations were taken by surprise when The Jersey Journal reached out recently after word of a possible connection among thestarted to spread on social media and in a Chinese-language publication. The belief was that the attacks were committed by a single suspect who may have been targeting people of Chinese ethnicity.
Unfortunately, we’re used to not getting straight answers – or sometimes any answers, for that matter – from City Hall on questions about crime as the powers that be seem to think it’s better to keep people in the dark about bad things that have happened in their neighborhoods. After all, ignorance is bliss, isn’t it?These types of attacks can easily escalate to inflict very serious injuries.
