WHAT MATTERS THIS MORNING: ABC News' GStephanopoulos shares the key stories he's following and why they are important:

It's Monday, Dec. 2, 2019. Here are the biggest stories I'm following this morning. I’ll be breaking it all down with our team starting at 7 a.m. EST, on"Good Morning America."

My take: One of the big questions is going to be how [Trump] deals with Boris Johnson, who is of course facing an election for prime minister next week. They are allies but Johnson doesn’t really want Trump, the most unpopular figure in England, to be part of his campaign. President Donald Trump and his lawyers will not participate in Wednesday’s impeachment hearing in the House Judiciary Committee, according to a letter from the White House to the committee obtained by ABC News. The absence of White House participation follows weeks of vocal protests from the president and Republicans in Congress, who have accused Democrats of blocking their due process rights.
