Labor has gained ground with swinging voters, while a third of Coalition voters have given the ALP a positive rating for its time in office, an exclusive survey shows.
Because the Resolve Political Monitor asks voters to nominate their primary votes in the same way they would write “1” on the ballot papers for the lower house at the election, there is no “uncommitted” or “undecided” category in the results, a key difference with some other surveys.
Voters consider Albanese and Labor to be the better side to manage all but one of 17 policy issues the Resolve Political Monitor asks about each month, cementing another of the big shifts since the election, when the Coalition led on many of the same issues. On foreign affairs and trade, however, 41 per cent prefer Labor and Albanese compared to 27 per cent who name the Coalition and Dutton. With high inflation putting pressure on households, the survey finds that 35 per cent think Labor and Albanese are the better choice on the cost of living, while 23 per cent prefer the Coalition on Dutton. When voters are asked about jobs and wages, Labor leads by 47 per cent to 23 per cent.
“Labor has come on in leaps and bounds since then, and would gain a much enlarged majority if an election were held any time soon.
