NRL: Jarome Luai was swarmed by teammates as he spoke about making history in his last game for Penrith.

Departing Panthers superstar Jarome Luai has delivered an emotional post-match interview, being mobbed by teammates after winning a fourth-straight NRL premiership.

“History doesn’t matter. We are soaking up this moment. Just to win one grand final is so special,” Luai replied.Fittler then asked “the try on halftime. How important was that?” before Luai was mobbed by his teammates, with Izack Tago and Sunia Turuva the first to embrace the gun five-eighth. An emotional Luai then gathered himself before returning to Fittler, asking “Sorry, what was the question?”.

Luai has played 131 games for Penrith, having come through the club’s junior ranks alongside his halves partner Nathan Cleary.He was a member of the premiership-winning Panthers NYC side in 2015 and made his first grade debut in 2018, before cementing himself in the starting side by the 2020 campaign.
