It has been less than a week since Ralph Yarl, a Black teenager in Kansas City, Missouri, was shot by a white homeowner. Here’s what we know, and don’t know, about the shooting.
Dried egg is seen on the front of a house, April 17, 2023, where 16-year-old Ralph Yarl was shot after he went to the wrong address to pick up his younger brothers in Kansas City, Mo.
Lester answered the door, the authorities said, and shot the 16-year-old in the forehead and in the right arm. Afterward, Ralph made his way to another nearby house for help. Not a lot. Although Lester was released from custody on Friday, he was not charged until Monday, after protests and anger spread in the community.
