Lynell Reynolds was arrested in 2019 when he was just 13 years old for shooting a man he was mugging.Victim Darrelle Scott was left paralyzed by the shooting — and only learned of his attacker’s escape after friends alerted him to a social media post.The fugitive escaped from the group home in Lake Charles on Sept. 13, with Orleans Parish District Attorney Jason Williams discovering the escape on Friday, nearly the same time as Scott.
Juvenile Judge Candice Anderson ordered Reynolds to stay in an unsecured group home as a part of his rehabilitation.Prosecutors had demanded Reynolds be kept under lock and key at the New Orleans Juvenile Justice Center’s juvenile hall facility.Williams warned that his office would prosecute any individual who is helping Reynolds avoid the law.
Scott laments the situation he now finds himself in, with the stress of his would-be killer on the loose impacting his focus on physical therapy.
