A 59-year-old Adelaide woman has been killed when the wheelchair van in which she was travelling crashed into a tree near Victor Harbor. The crash happened at the intersection of Ocean Rd and Port Elliot Rd at Hayborough, 3km northeast of Victor Harbor, just after 4.30pm on Sunday. The 59-year-old woman from Davoren Park, who was the wheelchair passenger, died at the scene.
The driver of the van, a 20-year-old woman from Northfield, and her front passenger, a 30-year-old woman from Croydon Park, were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. South Australia Police are investigating. The disability provider, Care Assure said it was working with investigators. “Care Assure’s thoughts and prayers are with the participant, the family of the participant, our injured staff, their families and everyone involved in this tragic accident,” a spokesperson said.
