They named it the Adam’s Apple, after its maker, though over time, the “Adam” dropped off, and it became simply the apple martini. Equal parts vodka and schnapps, with a splash of simple syrup, it was a hit almost immediately, particularly with young women. “It was very easy to drink,” says Dunsworth. “It was a little sour, a little sweet, it was pretty. But the appletini was equally suited to a younger, less sophisticated audience.
