The character was originally introduced as the foster daughter of Paddy Kirk and Emily Kirk – before being revealed to be the daughter of Charity Dingle and Cain Dingle .She was involved in some big storylines during her time on the show including falling pregnant at 15 with Andy Sugden ’s baby, her daughter Sarah being diagnosed with a blood disorder,being caught up in the 2013 Woolpack siege and her affair with Ross Barton , which won her an Inside Soap award in 2015.
Charley’s other screen credits include The Royal, Better, McDonald and Dodds and the upcoming series The Long Shadow, which details the five-year manhunt for serial killer Peter Sutcliffe, commonly known as the Yorkshire Ripper. And she’s not the only actor in her family – she’s the sister of Jamie Lomas, best known for his role as Warren Fox in Hollyoaks.Charley and Matthew met on the set of Emmerdale and began dating a year after he joined the soap, with the actor proposing on Christmas Day 2009.
However it hasn’t all been plain sailing for the couple. They split in 2013, with a spokesperson saying at the time: ‘Charley Webb and Matthew Wolfenden have today confirmed they have separated.’They got back together in 2015 with Matthew telling the Mirror: ‘It was never a permanent split, we just needed some time apart’ – before finally getting married in 2018.The couple eventually tied the knot on February 10 2018, although the wedding came as a surprise to their guests.
OK! Magazine reported at the time that the couple were joined by 100 guests at Ripley Castle near Harrogate thinking they were attending Charley’s 30th birthday – when in fact they were getting married.
