I don’t know if I started the season tipping to win, but I definitely ended it desperately wanting to be in front after the home-and-away rounds., with the two AFLW stars Libby Birch and Emma Kearney hardly a threat to win given they had to tip their club, North Melbourne, each week.Kane and I get on well, but it’s always nice to have bragging rights over someone with strong football opinions.
Perhaps that’s a worry for Cats fans as I think they will beat Port Adelaide in week one of the finals and make it through the preliminary final to the grand final.. I have more than a soft spot for Ken as he was an assistant at Geelong when I started my career and I must admit his presence at Port influenced my selections. I won’t claim my support was unwavering but, ultimately, I stuck with them and it helped me win the tipping .
Now another challenge awaits. I am sticking with the Hawks to beat the other in-form team, the Western Bulldogs, in the elimination final, while I will tip the Lions to beat Carlton.
