Many modern dating shows establish a moral intention to suck us into an emotional vortex. In episode one of the current series of, host Sophie Monk says the contestants “will face life-changing experiences of self discovery”. Monk is dressed in a camo outfit while the “geeks” roll in on a tank set in the outback. There’ll be death-defying challenges, obstacle courses, interrogations and transformations.
