Details have been released about when we will know the result of the first ever East Midlands Mayor election. Voters across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire will have their say on May 2 about who should get the important new job.
Six candidates are running to be the first ever mayor and we will found out who has been successful the day after the election itself. Polls will close across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire at 10pm on the Thursday evening, with the initial verification of votes getting underway at 9am the next day.The verification process is done to make sure that all ballot papers have been brought to the count. Once that is finished, the counting of votes will begin at around 12.
