Scream 6 was set in New York City, but the slasher film was actually shot in various locations around Montreal, a city in Quebec, Canada.
Despite its New York City setting, much of Scream 6 wasn't actually filmed in the Big Apple. The sixth installment of the Scream franchise left Woodsboro, where Scream 5 took place, and headed across the country for NYC, where Tara Carpenter and her friends attend Blackmore University. Setting the film in a huge city set it apart from all the other films. While not every Scream film took place in Woodsboro, none have set themselves in such a lively location.
Craven once used the pseudonym Abe Snake for a pornographic film he directed called The Fireworks Woman. In the bodega scene, Sam and Tara barely survive Ghostface by pushing a shelf onto him and running out of the shop. Unfortunately, he flees out the back door before the police can get to him. Le National Was Used As Ghostface's Shrine The most crucial location Scream 6 utilized was the Ghostface shrine. Detective Bailey created the shrine to honor his late son, Richie Kirsch, who was the Ghostface in Scream 5 and never got to finish his slasher film because Sam killed him. Scream 6 suggests the shrine, which contains memorabilia from all the different Ghostfaces, is located in an old New York City movie theater. However, the real location is Le National.
