But how wrong we were! The majority of the original ensemble cast returned in December 2021 and invited us into the lives of our favourite characters in their 50s. However, the script was met with a mixed response from fans who felt some of the storylines and characters had been betrayed. Forget Samantha, who mysteriously 'fell out' with the group and moved to London, let's talk about Steve.
Steve Brady has widely been lauded as a definitive nice guy. He's 'marriage material', 'unproblematic' and not a narcissist. He also treated Miranda really well throughout the show. However, the Steve we saw inwas a different species entirely. It was as though, to suit the storyline that Miranda would meet someone else and ask for a divorce, they just made Steve into a total schmuck.
By the end of the season, Miranda had asked for a divorce and he had accepted. He seemed like a lost pup, a sad one at that. And it's quite possible – as the trailer and iMDB page have corroborated – that he's not even in season two. Although since we know Carrie'son the scene in the new season, it's possible Steve might make an appearance as he and Aidan own a bar together. But all of this is speculation.
